Thanksgiving Day is by far the most popular race day of the year in the United States with over 1,000 events taking place nationwide. Embarking on a long run during a holiday of leisure might not be everyone’s choice for fun, but we say go for it! THE COMMUNITY ACTION TEAM
C.A.T. is a 501c3 non-profit that promotes and hosts various activities and events pointed toward improving the Long Beach Community and the lives of its residents. For example, C.A.T. organizes monthly beach cleanups, The July 4th Kid’s Bike Parade, The Long Beach Giving Project, and plenty more. All in all, the non-profit is responsible for organizing more than 65 community benefitting events in Long Beach every year.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where can I register for the race on race day?
You can register at 1 Granada Ave. located on the boat launch ramp from 6:15 to 10 am. All participants must be registered at least 30 minutes before your start time hits.
Where can I get my bib and shirt?
Participants can pick up their packets on Wed. from 3:30-6:30 pm or Thurs. From 6:15-10 am and at least 30 minutes before your start time.
What about rain?
The event will happen rain or shine.
Will there be timers?
The event will not include professional timing for the participants in order to save money and give more back to charity. The event is no-frills and there will be no age categories or online posting of race times.
Can I wear a costume?
Of course! There are always a bunch of costumed trotters. The event does ask that you not dress in Native American themed costumes at the Turkey Trot.
Are you allowed to walk the entire race?
The event welcomes participants of all shapes, sizes, and speeds. Walking is allowed, but anyone who plans to walk slower than a 15-minute mile, you’ll be asked to run the 5k.
Do you need to register your child for the 5K/10K?
Every trotter, no matter the age, must be registered in order to participate in one of the runs.
